12.5.12 - Ghanaian Nativity

We have several Nativity scenes on display in our house this year, as we do every year.  We have a new one this year that we didn't have last year though.  It was my favorite souvenir I brought home from my mission trip to Ghana earlier this year and I couldn't wait to include it in this year's decorations around the house to celebrate the season.  I love walking by it each day because I can't seem to help myself and pause as lots of memories and emotions  hit me of the time spent in West Africa and the way God used that experience in my life. This simple Nativity scene reminds me each day:

  • of what this season is all about - the birth of Jesus!
  • of the the special people I met in Ghana and the life changing experience that trip was.
  • to pray for the people at Manna Mission and the work they are doing throughout West Africa.
  • to pray for Noah & Joshua - two little boys in Ada - who I met during a clinic on their island.
  • that I serve a big God who is the same in West Africa as He is in Indiana, Oregon, or wherever you meet Him.
  • of the awesome people I traveled with and served alongside while in country - truly amazing people!
Ghana was my first international mission trip, but it won't be my last. I hope I can collect quite a few Nativity scenes from all around the world!

This just seems fitting given today's topic!
