Many of us have brothers and sisters, and those of us that have good relationships with them are blessed. One of the special relationships I am around is that between Marcy and her sister Lisa. Having known Marcy since we were kids, I've also known Lisa for a very long time as well. I've seen the two of them fight as teenage siblings, grow to appreciate each other more as young adults, and as grown women eventually become best of friends. We live 2300 miles apart, but they talk everyday as though they're next door neighbors. Marcy has an immense amount of pride in Lisa's success and Lisa has a great respect for Marcy's experience and knowledge as Mom and big sister. There is nothing these two wouldn't do for the other.
So when we visit Oregon, this relationship is one of the most enjoyable for me to watch as sisters get the chance to spend time together in person. It's also one of the goodbyes that breaks my heart at the end of each trip, but I'm thankful for the time they get to spend together and take solace in knowing the phone will ring soon with a cheerful "Hello!" coming from the other end.
