Our very first Christmas together, Marcy and I started collecting buildings and accessories from the Department 56 Dickens Village series. Some great friends and our family bought us our first few buildings to get us started and for a number of years after that we just gradually added to the collection. It never grew to anything substantial because we started collecting/having children instead and we struggled to find a place in the house big enough for the village.
We haven't added to it in years, but every Christmas season we still get it out to display. For me, it's a reminded of the beginnings of our family and early traditions Marcy and I started when it was just the two of us. One of these years, we'll start adding to it again but for now the village is one of our favorite and most sentimental Holiday decorations.
