12.10.13 - Not your typical breakfast

Contrary to what my kids may think, just because I work at a culinary school does not mean that I spend my days grazing in the kitchens.  Sometimes, I actually sit down for an actual meal prepared by the students - I mean, standing and eating isn't really good for you or at least I remember some
parent in my life saying something like that.

This term, our Classical Cuisine class starts at 6:30am which means that the weeks they are doing their practicals and producing their full menu they are serving a 7 course meal at 8am.  This is one of our more advanced classes so the quality of food is generally pretty good, although every now and then they try something outside the box that reminds me this is a school and they are still students.  Today, that was the Roasted Red Pepper and Mango Sorbet. I can't say I'll be looking for that recipe in any cookbooks or textbooks anytime soon.
