Tonight we had our second Christmas Concert of the week, this time with Makela as the family member performing.
We really are fortunate to live in a community and school district where the arts are supported so well and valued as part of the educational experience of our students. I don't know how long Makela will play the clarinet, but this has been a really great experience for her these past three years and she has become a pretty good little musician. Looking back, I'm not sure
what I expected when she brought her clarinet home at the end of her 5th grade year and we all suffered through the squeaking and inconsistent sounds coming from her room during practice. I distinctly remember, however, the first 6th grade concert we went to and being completely blown away with how good they sounded, especially for 6th grade! Well, they have only gotten better in three years, so tonight's concert was very good - plus, a nice celebration of music from the season. Santa even made an appearance!
