12.31.11 - Great Friends

Nearly five years ago we had a special family move into our neighborhood and we quickly became friends on all fronts.  Over the years, the friendship grew and evolved into something more like family than just friends and neighbors.  Holidays, parties, and family vacations all became regular joint activities for the Kaopuiki and Day families.  So much so, that the kids gave us a joint family name: the DayPuki family.

So it was with very mixed emotions that earlier this year we congratulated Geoff Day on a new position in southern Indiana and said goodbye to half of our family as they moved away.  What used to be a three house walk to go hang out has become a three hour car ride.  It hasn't stopped us from continuing to vacation together and has given us new motivation to venture outside the Carmel bubble, but we sure do miss our family.

As we wrap up 2011, we are very thankful that we were able to close out the year and bring in a new one with our special friends.
