12.2.12 - It's taken us 3 years to make these blankets!

We have a great group of people in our life group through church and over the years we've shared a lot of different life moments together.  We've seen our group grow and shrink as different families have joined and left, but our collective group as we stand today are collectively and individually incredible blessings in our lives.

Each holiday season for the the past few years our life group has had the goal of making blankets for either kids in the hospital or to send overseas to an orphanage.  I'm sure you've seen the fleece blankets with the knotted edges.... those are the blankets we've been wanting to make.  Despite our best intentions, we also had something happen that put a road block in front of our efforts to get this little project complete each year.

Due to the leadership of the Good family though, we would not be stopped this year and today gathered and made a bunch of blankets.  Kids and Grown-ups working together to make these simple gifts - it was a great way to spend a couple hours this afternoon.  The best part of all, is that these are going to an orphanage in Uganda that our life group has a special connection with, a connection we didn't have until this year.  I know that made these blankets a little more special for our kids and the personal stories helped to bring the potential impact of simple blankets a little closer to home.

Christmas Song of the Day

Sleigh Ride by Karmin

Something fun about a white girl from Nebraska rapping in the middle of a new take on a Christmas standard.
