12.22.12 - Christmas Lights

We had a little family time tonight when we all piled into the van with coffee and hot chocolate in tow to drive around Hamilton County looking at other people's Christmas Lights.

I wish I could say that it was joyful bliss with everyone singing Christmas carols and kindness overflowing throughout the minivan, but unfortunately it ended up being a 'forced fun' event that didn't quite live up to the expectations Marcy and I had built up in our minds.

Not quite Griswold, but enough to make a statement
Enter Grammy & Papa to save the day.  From the minivan we made a Facetime call to my parents who joined our Christmas lights tour from 2000 miles away.  Immediately, everyone's attitude and energy changed.  Sure there was still a little fighting, but most of the tension left the car as my mom began engaging in conversation with her out-of-state angels.  It's always hard to be angry when your grandma is around.

We had some really fun laughs, shared some funny stories from the week and spent some quality time in what has become our new normal for quality time with distant family.  It may not be ideal but it's amazing how technology impacts our lives in a positive way sometimes.

Christmas Song of the Day

Grown up Christmas List by Michael Bublé

Unfortunately, iTunes isn't selling this CD any longer and neither is Amazon on their MP3 store.  This is a great version though.
